What can I put between my TV and cable box so the box can breathe?

Carter Edstrom: You should have at least two inches of air on all sides of the DVR to prevent over heating. I used 1" x 2" x 8" pieces of wood which I painted black. The DVR sits on top of them.

Raul Tllo: I hear cats are very good for breathing. And you also get the bonus of no more cat

Mauro Cowee: Since DVRs tend to get quite hot, I have the DVR on it's own shelf in the entertainment unit, which has no back, so there's more room for air to circulate.Leave at least 2" on the sides and top of the DVR. This shouldn't be a problem since most cables come in 6-foot lengths.DO NOT STACK ANYTHING DIRECTLY ON TOP OF THE DVR. Get a little shelf and put the TV on top of that so the DVR can sit underneath and still have plenty of space on the sides and top....Show more
