Does TiVo actually provide the tv?

Carolynn Testani: TiVO does not give you a picture food. It merely "Merges" with your current satellite/cable provider. So in addition to buying a TiVo, you will still need to get satellite/cable provider. However, most satellite/cable providers offer their own version of a TiVo called a "DVR" It does the same functions as a tivo, just different platforms, and different menus and such.
