can you have headgear (dental) by itself? or is it only for people with braces or specific problems?

answers 0:I posted a previous question on something like this but not many answered..I can't afford braces, and probably won't ever..but i really want to straighten my teeth..can i have headgear just to straighten my teeth? or is it only for people with specific dental problems? and how much are they roughly? and how long do they take? if i was going to get braces (proper metal ones) id probably have them for maybe a year and a half to two years, but if i get headgear how long would they take? (id wear them all the time except going out in public)Thanks for helping!...Show moreanswers 1:Headgear is to pull your teeth apart basically, if you have a massive overbite so it wont straighten your teeth it will probably make them a lot worse!Headgear is used before braces to pull the teeth back and apart and then you get b! races after to straighten them out and close the gaps.answers 2:Headgear is for bite problems. It won't do a thing to straighten teeth.
