How important is education to you?

Rhett Kaines: You know, that is a really good question, and I am going to follow the answers! As a graduate student in Higher Ed Administration, I am anxious to find out what others think about the importance of higher ed.To me, it is an invaluable tool, one that can only further our world society. That being said, I have found that the more I learn the more I realize I DON'T know! And perhaps, that is the point of education... Just a thought... But back to the question.Education is a way to improve life - to serve and help others, to serve and help society, to serve and help the world. To me, it is not about what I can earn - it is important because I will be able to HELP.I realize this sounds like an off the cuff response, but it really isn't. I have worked in the private sector for 25+ years, yet have not found anything that is as satisfying as helping a student get an education. Higher education is the preparation of our future. OK - I will admit that it is ! somewhat self-serving to feel good about helping people, but that is not the question... You asked how important it is to me - and my reply is...It is ENORMOUSLY important!=)...Show more
