Adrian Paraz: As is means as is. You bought it and there is little you can do.
Imogene Neiswander: It really depends on a few details. As a licensed used car dealer in Maine I cannot sell a car "as is". I have to send the vehicle to a state certified inspection station. They fill out a form stating everything that they found wrong with the car that prevents it from meeting state inspection standards. At the time of sale the buyer must sign the form and receives a copy. At this point they must tow the car off the lot (even if the car failed for something small like a broken headlight.) If later on the buyer finds something grossly misstated the state will come down and fine me, and strongly suggest I buy the car back. Basically the dmv inspector walks the lot and writes fines until I wise up. If a person bought a car in Maine via private sale they are on there own, as there are no warranty's in a private sale. This may not be the case in different states. G! ood luck!...Show more
Terrell Voltz: Repair it. The law has nothing to do with it.What did you think as is meant ?
Branden Roddick: every states laws r different but in every case after 30, 60. or 90 days your locked in to paying the car off n fixing it your self
Booker Warlick: Not a thing. You signed an "as is" agreement and as soon as you did you gave up all RIGHTS to whatever could go wrong. Sounds like a private dealer ( individual ) so don't be towing that car anywhere...you'll have one more bill to pay.I sold my Blazer to a guy and it died after he DROVE IT AWAY and to his house! he took me to court twice. Twice the judge said "Did he sign an "AS IS" piece of paper??? He said yes and he lost TWICE! Good luck!...Show more
Chris Wilczewski: Return it and ask for your money back, if it has only been 24 hours. If your really tricky, you'll have the car towed there, before they open.Tell them you changed your mind, and tell them how many miles you! put on it. Offer them a dollar for every mile you put on it a! nd leave. If they try to start it, tell them, "It stated yesterday". What is a warrantee ? I think it's like a form of insurance. They give it to you, or you pay for it, either way it helps pay for unforeseen repairs. Not normal wear and tear, like a bald tire or worn out brakes. But big stuff, that cost a lot to fix. Even with no warrantee, all used car places have a responsibility to the public. They have to fairly represent the used cars. As a business, they can be reported for selling junk cars.If they sold a lemon to you, they sold one to someone else, too. No one ever just sells one crappy car, so reporting it, is important, if they won't do something about it. If it was just one day, maybe it has a weak battery or some other minor, expectable problem. If they jump to your aid, they are a good business, if they make excuses, they are criminals. If you keep calm, they should help you. If they won't help you, take them to court....Show more
Bruce Calise: you can ! ask for your money back nicely
Wally Gower: Learn the meaning of "as is". No warranty, no guarantees.
Kris Bozelle: If you bought from an individual seller, it is automatically an "as-is" sale and there's nothing you can do except beg the seller to take the car back and return your money, although he is not obligated to do so.If you bought from a dealer, and there was a window sticker saying "as-is" sale, same story. If you bought from a dealer and there was no window sticker, *some* states have "implied warranty" laws that might help you. You would have to go to your state's Attorney General's web site and look for the section that deals with used car sales....Show more
Carter Dewater: If you paid by credit card ,you got a chance, consult C/C people. Hopefully ,use this as a learning lesson. Only consult a reputable auto tech before buying a car. This will save you $ in long term.
