Authorship on a Paper? 2nd vs 3rd author?

answers1:From my own experience, the first author wrote the paper, the
second author did all the work, and the third author contributed in
some other way - consultation, funding, big name, etc. Of course,
that's just a 3-author paper - some have more than 50, at which point
the 3rd author becomes a bit superfluous.
