What aircraft single engine is better to do STOL?

Ulrike Hert: Helio Aircraft are pretty good, full weight at 500 foot! http://www.helioaircraft.com/missions_missionary.h...Or if you need a ten place that can work in under 1000 foot the Quest Kodiak is nice http://questaircraft.com/the-kodiak/overview/There are lots of STOL singles. The mission should be the guide!...Show more

Verdie Wollen: Maule Air has been building STOL piston powered airplanes in the USA since the 1950's. B.D. Maule, The designer/founder of the company used to park one of his airplanes inside a hangar, start it up and he could be airborne before the airplane cleared the doors of the hangar.

Kip Ockenfels: An aircraft called the Stork (maybe the German spelling "Storch"?). Also there are some great ultra-lights for short take off/landing. Subscribe to an aircraft magazine that covers the field you are interested in.

Mee Blumenfeld: AN-2 Colt

Rosalyn Olivera: Depends what else you want it to do. Super Cubs are very very good S! TOL aircraft, very cheap light and simple. But if you need more range or payload or passengers then the answer changes. If you need to operate in IFR the answer changes. If you need to operate in harsh climates then turbines are better, but they cost more to operate. So, dropping one man on a sand bar in a river - super cub, dropping a climbing team on a remote glacier - Pilatus PC6. The Fiesler Storch could fly virtually standing still, but they haven't been made since 1945 and they never could carry much or were particularly reliable, running one now would be like running a pre-war Mercedes as a daily driver, just not practical.PC-6/C2-H2 Porter, the Fairchild version with the Garrett TPE331-101F 650ehp engine....Show more

Giovanna Sherlin: The AV-6 Harrier,British designed VTOL aircraft operated by the USMC.If required, can operate from a ski ramp as an ultra short take off 'plane, carry a heavy load and land vertically.

Rebeca Mckin: I would take my chances on! a helicopter much better than a STOL. Maule aircraft is the c! heapest and most versatile of any STOL I know of. The others are outragous in cost.

Lino Cawthorne: a piper cub.those things can take off on a runway the length of a driveway.
